He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
