Al-Inshiqaaq
The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
