The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 And the day resplendent 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
