Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
