The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
