۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
