And this (Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth- 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 Its news was also mentioned in the ancient Books. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 So for Our punishment are they impatient? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 for a reminder; and never did We wrong. 209 And the satans have not brought it down. 210 They are unworthy of it, nor can they do it. 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. 213 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), warn your closest relatives. 214 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 And rely upon (Allah) the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend on every lying sinner, 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 And that they say what they do not do? - 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
