Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the swift scatterers 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 by the angels which distribute the affairs, 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 Verily, [O men,] you are deeply at variance as to what to believe: 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Death to those whose opinions are merely baseless conjectures. 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 It will be the Day whereon in the Fire they will be burned 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 and would ask for forgiveness at dawn, 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty, 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and that which ye are promised. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
