AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark-slime transmuted 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 But when your Lord said to the angels: "I am verily going to create a human being from fermented clay dried tingling hard; 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 then the angels all prostrated themselves together. 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 Said He, 'What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?' 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed. 34 and the curse shall be on you till the Day of Judgement!" 35 He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised. 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 for an appointed time." 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 Surely, as regards My servants, you have no authority, over them except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
