The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
