The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 by the night swarming, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
