Al-Hijjr 6 of 6
The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 And We gave them Our communications, but they turned aside from them; 81 notwithstanding that they had been wont [to enjoy Our blessings and] to hew out dwellings from the mountains, [wherein they could live] in security 82 But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour, 83 Then availed them not that which they had been earning. 84 We have created the heavens and the earth and all that is between the two in accordance with the requirements of truth and wisdom. The Hour is surely coming. So overlook [their faults] with gracious forgiveness. 85 Lo! Thy Lord! He is the All-Wise Creator. 86 We have indeed bestowed on you the seven oft-repeated verses and the Great Qur'an. 87 Do not strain your eyes towards the worldly benefits We have bestowed on some of them, nor grieve on their account. Lower your wing of mercy for the believers 88 Say, "Indeed, I am simply one who warns." 89 (Of a punishment) Like the one We sent down upon the dividers. 90 who have broken the Koran into fragments. 91 By thy Lord, We will question them all. 92 About what they used to do. 93 So declare to them what We have enjoined, and turn away from idolaters. 94 For sufficient are We unto thee against those who scoff,- 95 those who set up another deity alongside Allah. They shall soon come to know. 96 Indeed, We know that your breast is straitened at what they say. 97 But you should glorify your Lord with praises, and be among those who bow in submission; 98 and worship thy Sustainer till death comes to thee. 99

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
