Al-Qalam 2 of 2
Verily, for the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V. 2:2) are Gardens of delight (Paradise) with their Lord. 34 or should We, perchance, treat those who surrender themselves unto Us as [We would treat] those who remain lost in sin? 35 What is the matter with you? How could you judge this to be so? 36 Or have ye a book through which ye learn- 37 That ye shall indeed have all that ye choose? 38 Or you have oaths from Us, reaching to the Day of Resurrection that yours will be what you judge. 39 Ask them which of them will vouch for that, 40 Or have they associates if they are truthful. 41 The Day the shin will be uncovered and they are invited to prostration but the disbelievers will not be able, 42 Their eyes will be cast down and they will be covered in shame; they were bidden to prostrate themselves, when they were safe and sound [but they did not obey]. 43 Then leave Me alone with such as reject this Message: by degrees shall We punish them from directions they perceive not. 44 for, behold, though I may give them rein for a while, My subtle scheme is exceedingly firm! 45 Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt? 46 Is the unseen within their grasp so that they write it down? 47 Wait patiently for your Lord's judgement; do not be like the man who, having been swallowed by a whale, called out in distress. 48 Had his Lord's grace not been bestowed upon him, he would have been cast away in disgrace upon that desolate shore. 49 Thus did his Lord choose him and make him of the Company of the Righteous. 50 When the unbelievers hear this Exhortation, they look at you as though they would knock you off your feet with their (hostile) glances. They say: “Surely he is afflicted with madness”; 51 But it is not except a reminder to the worlds. 52

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
