The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
