The unbelieving assembly of his nation, who belied the encounter of the Everlasting Life, and on whom We had bestowed ease in this life, said: 'This is but a human like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 And were ye to obey a human being like you, ye are forthwith to be losers. 34 Does he promise you that after you die and become dust and bones you will be brought back to life again? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 He is only a man who hath invented a lie about Allah. We are not going to put faith in him. 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 God said, "Before long they will be filled with regret." 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 Then after them We raised other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Yet whenever its Messenger came to a nation they belied him, so We made them follow others, and We made them but as tales, so begone the nation who did not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they cried them lies, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
