And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said, “Do you see these (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
