The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 And he certainly saw him in another descent 13 by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 despite the fact that [both] the life to come and this present [one] belong to God [alone]? 25
