Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
By the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning for people -- 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except those of the right hand 39 in Gardens they will question 40 About the guilty: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
