The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
