The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And spreading shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
