Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
