The assembly of Pharaoh's nation said: 'This man is a wellversed sorcerer 109 He intends to turn you out of your land. What counsel do you then give? 110 They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners, 111 And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." 112 So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!" 113 He answered: Yes, and surely ye shall be of those brought near (to me). 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 And We revealed to Moses: 'Cast thy staff!' And lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention. 117 ۞ So the truth came to pass, and false was proved what they were doing. 118 they were defeated and turned belittled, 119 And the enchanters were thrown down, prostrating (themselves). 120 They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, 121 the Sustainer of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "You have believed in him [Musa (Moses)] before I give you permission. Surely, this is a plot which you have plotted in the city to drive out its people, but you shall come to know. 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 And what is it for which thou takest vengeance on us save that we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came unto us? Our Lord! pour out upon us perseverance and cause us to die as Muslims. 126
