T H (Taa Haa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ TA HA. 1 We have not sent down to you the Qur'an that you be distressed 2 But as admonition for him who fears -- 3 Sent down by One Who created the earth and the lofty heavens. 4 The Compassionate on the Throne is established. 5 To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, and all that is between them, and all that is under the soil. 6 And if thou say anything aloud, [He hears it] since, behold, He knows [even] the secret [thoughts of man] as well as all that is yet more hidden [within him]. 7 God is the only Lord and to Him belong all the exalted Names. 8 And has the story of Moses reached you? - 9 Recall what time he saw a fire and said to his household, bide ye! verily I have perceived a fire! haply I may bring you from it a brand or may find at the fire a guidance. 10 When he came to it, a voice cried, 'Moses, 11 I am thy Lord; put off thy shoes; thou art in the holy valley, Towa. 12 I have chosen you. Therefore, listen to what shall be revealed. 13 I am God, and there is no god but I, so serve Me, and observe acts of prayer to remember Me. 14 Verily the Hour (of the great change) is about to come. I keep it secret that every soul may be rewarded for its endeavour. 15 Let him who does not believe in it and follows his lust not turn your thought away from it, lest you are ruined. 16 The Lord asked, "Moses, what is in your right hand?" 17 He answered: "It is my staff; I lean on it; and with it I beat down leaves for my sheep; and [many] other uses have I for it." 18 Said He, 'Cast it down, Moses!' 19 So he cast it down, and lo! it was a serpent running along. 20 He said, “Pick it up and do not fear; We shall restore it to its former state.” 21 "Now place thy hand within thy armpit: it will come forth [shining] white, without blemish, as another sign [of Our grace,] 22 “In order that We may show you Our great signs.” 23 "Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh)! Verily, he has transgressed (all bounds in disbelief and disobedience, and has behaved as an arrogant, and as a tyrant)." 24
