And when We said to the angels: 'Prostrate yourselves before Adam' they all prostrated themselves except iblis, who refused. 116 and thereupon We said: "O Adam! Verily, this is a foe unto thee and thy wife: so let him not drive the two of you out of this garden and render thee unhappy. 117 "There is therein (enough provision) for thee not to go hungry nor to go naked, 118 and that thou shalt not thirst here or suffer from the heat of the sun." 119 But Satan whispered evil to him: he said, "O Adam! shall I lead thee to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that never decays?" 120 And both ate of (its fruit), and their hidden parts were exposed to one another, and they patched the leaves of the garden (to hide them). Adam disobeyed his Lord, and went astray. 121 Then his Lord had mercy on him, accepted his repentance and guided him. 122 He said, “Both of you go down from heaven, one of you is an enemy to the other; then if the guidance from Me comes to you – then whoever follows My guidance, will not go astray nor be ill-fated.” 123 "But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Quran nor acts on its orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection." 124 He will say: "O my Lord! why hast Thou raised me up blind, while I had sight (before)?" 125 God shall say, 'Even so it is. Our signs came unto thee, and thou didst forget them; and so today thou art forgotten.' 126 And that is how We requite him who is extravagant and does not believe the signs of his Lord; and surely the punishment of the Hereafter is far more severe and persistent. 127 Do they not learn a lesson from Our destruction of many generations before them in whose dwelling-places they walk about? Surely in this are signs for men of understanding. 128
