Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?" 11 He said, “My Lord, I fear that they will deny me.” 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 And they have a charge (of murder) against me. So I fear that they will kill me." 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 "And when you both come to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), say: 'We are the Messengers of the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists), 16 so send forth with us the Children of Israel." 17 Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you spent several years of your life with us. 18 "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." 19 Moses said, "I did do it and I made a mistake. 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 “And is this some great reward for which you express favour upon me – that you have enslaved the Descendants of Israel?” 22 The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?" 23 He said, 'The Lord of the heavens and earth, and what between them is, if you have faith.' 24 (Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not? 25 Moses went on, "He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." 27 Moses said, "He is the Lord of the East and the West, and all that lies between them, if only you could understand." 28 Pharaoh said, "If you take any deity other than myself, I will throw you into prison," 29 He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest? 30 (Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful! 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
