The companions of the thicket denied the messengers 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ "Maintain just measure in your business and do not cause loss to others. 181 and [in all your dealings] weigh with a true balance, 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 And fear Him who created you and all the earlier people." 184 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 185 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar! 186 "So cause a piece of the heaven to fall on us, if you are of the truthful!" 187 He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
