The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 Do people think that once they say, "We believe," they will be left alone and not be put to the test? 2 We had tried those who were before them so that God knew who spoke the truth, and who were liars. 3 Do those who practise evil think that they will get the better of Us? Evil is their judgment! 4 Whosoever hopeth for the meeting with Allah, then Allah's term is surely coming, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. 5 And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds. 6 And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely remove from them their misdeeds and will surely reward them according to the best of what they used to do. 7 We have charged the human to be kind to his parents. But if they bid you to associate with Me that which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me you will return, and I shall inform you of all that you have done. 8 And those who believe and work righteous works - We shall surely cause them to enter among the righteous. 9 Now there is among men many a one who says [of himself and of others like him,] "We do believe in God" - but whenever he is made to suffer in God's cause, he thinks that persecution at the hands of man is as [much to be feared, or even more than,] God's chastisement; whereas, if succour from thy Sustainer comes [to those who truly believe] he is sure to say: "Behold, we have always been with you!" Is not God fully aware of what is in the hearts of all creatures? 10 [Yea - ] and most certainly will God mark out those who have [truly] attained to faith, and most certainly will He mark out the hypocrites. 11 And those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Follow our way and we will verily bear your sins," never will they bear anything of their sins. Surely, they are liars. 12 They will bear their own burdens, and (other) burdens along with their own, and on the Day of Judgments they will be called to account for their falsehoods. 13
