And lo! Jonah verily was of those sent (to warn) 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 Then lots were drawn and he became of those who were pushed into the sea. 141 Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 He would have remained in its belly till the day when all will be raised. 144 ۞ but We cast him upon the wilderness, and he was sick, 145 and We caused a pumpkin tree to grow over him. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand or more people. 147 And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons? 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 That “Allah has offspring”; and indeed, surely, they are liars. 152 (And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons. 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Why do you not reflect? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 So surely you and what you worship, 161 Can tempt anyone to rebel against Him. 162 unless it be such as rushes towards the blazing fire [of his own accord]! 163 [The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position. 164 and, verily, we too are ranged [before Him in worship]; 165 and we glorify God". 166 AND, INDEED, they [who deny the truth] have always been wont to say, 167 "If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples, 168 We would have been the chosen servants of Allah." 169 But they disbelieve in it (the Koran), but soon they shall know! 170 for, long ago has Our word gone forth unto Our servants, the message-bearers, 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 And surely, only Our army will be victorious. 173 So, (O Prophet), leave them alone for a while, 174 and watch them. They, too, will watch. 175 What! would they then hasten on Our chastisement? 176 When that chastisement will descend upon their courtyard, evil shall that Day be for those who had been warned. 177 And turn away from them for some time. 178 And watch; they will come to know soon. 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 Peace be upon the Messengers 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182
