Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the dipersing winds that disperse. 1 and the burden-bearers 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 then by the distributors (angels), ordered; 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 They but destroy themselves, they who are given to guessing at what they cannot ascertain 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 They ask, "When will the Day of Judgement come?" 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 they used to sleep but little by night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth it is sure, even as it is a fact that ye are speaking. 23
