Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (Winds) that scatter broadcast; 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 And those that distribute and apportion by Command;- 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 your ideas are confused. 8 Through which are deluded (away from the Truth) such as would be deluded. 9 Death to those whose opinions are merely baseless conjectures. 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 And in your own selves; so can you not perceive? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth! it is most surely the truth, just as you do speak. 23
