Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah); 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 So We brought out from therein the believers. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. 44 They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
