The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and gently take it away; 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
