The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and extended shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
