Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)

۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 in a lofty garden, 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 and had not known my account. 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 I am bereft of power." 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
