The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
