Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Indeed We sent Nooh towards his people saying that, “Warn your people before the painful punishment comes upon them.” 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 Worship Allah, fear Him, and obey me. 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 And lo! I have called unto them aloud, 8 "Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private, 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 "'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 who has created you in several stages? 14 Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other, 15 and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp, 16 God made you grow from the earth. 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 That you may go about therein in broad roads. 20
