The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 arise and give warning! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
