The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 and purify your robes, 4 And pollution shun. 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And children to be by his side! 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 May he be condemned! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
