No! By the moon 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 a warning to mortal man 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 About the criminals, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
