The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great event, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
