The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
