The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And the second followeth it, 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
