He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 most exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
