He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him you attend; 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
