The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
