The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 and the day in splendour 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 They do not expect any reward 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
