The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
