The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
