The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
