The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 but I too plan against them. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
